New Union Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is a hallowed place of simple beauty, located just inside Woodford County on scenic Old Frankfort Pike.\u00a0 It is a pleasant and easy drive from Versailles, Lexington, Frankfort, Midway and southern Scott County.<\/p>\n

In some ways we are that “little brown church in the wildwood” with a seating capacity of 60 or so persons,<\/strong> <\/span>and a warm, intelligent, accepting set of individuals to worship alongside.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Our worship is traditional, using hymnals with a mix of old hymns and newer contemporary pieces. Worship lasts about an hour and includes times for prayer, scripture study, music, and a thoughtful message from one of our pastors or church leaders.<\/p>\n

Sundays at New Union<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

We currently meet for worship on Sundays at 11:00 a.m. in our sanctuary, but also offer the opportunity to join us live online via Zoom. <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

We invite any who are interested to come at 10:40 for fellowship and discussion.\u00a0\u00a0 During the church year we hold Bible Study-Sunday School classes at 10:00-10:45 pm.\u00a0 All meetings are hybrid:\u00a0 both in the sanctuary and online.

Our congregation includes members who have been at the church forever and those who are much newer, and visitors.\u00a0 All are invited to join us! <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Since our founding in 1834, this congregation has aligned itself with the Disciples of Christ, which grew up in the Kentucky area about the same time with a message of Christian unity, working together with people of other faiths, an open table, and liberty of theology and opinions.<\/p>\n

Many of our pastors across its long history have been among the best-educated and thoughtful leaders of the denomination, and the majority of these ministers have also had an academic affiliation with the Lexington Theological Seminary, Transylvania University, or Midway University.<\/p>\n

New Union offers members and friends a thoughtful and socially engaged approach to Christian living.\u00a0 Our church offers simplicity in its government and program; strong community within a caring fellowship;\u00a0hospitality to\u00a0all<\/span> persons; \u00a0and opportunities for people of all ages\u00a0to grow in faith and discipleship.<\/p>\n

You will not<\/em> find a paved parking\u00a0lot or a choir with\u00a0many voices. \u00a0You will not<\/em> have to leave your brain at the doorway.\u00a0 You will not<\/em> be burdened with committees and meetings. \u00a0You will<\/em> find a welcoming group of\u00a0people of a breadth of ages\u00a0and from a variety of walks in life.<\/p>\n

People who have joined this church in recent years have come\u00a0from a variety of religious backgrounds, or have come to us\u00a0with no specific religious roots.\u00a0 Some of our members’\u00a0 families have been members\u00a0here for several generations.<\/p>\n
